The Gopalganj Central Co-operative Bank Ltd

Symbol of Trust since 1917

BSCB History

The Gopalganj Central Co-operative Bank Ltd. was registered on 25th July 1917, founded by eminent cooperative leaders of the time with a single purpose — to bring institutional credit within reach of the farmers of Gopalganj district. Long before commercial banking reached the region's villages, this Bank was already extending resources to cultivators who had nowhere else to turn.

Over more than a century, the Bank has grown from a cooperative credit society into a full-fledged district central co-operative bank, with branches spread across the rural and semi-urban pockets of Gopalganj. True to its founding purpose, the Bank employs its funds locally rather than routing them elsewhere, so that every deposit collected in Gopalganj works to strengthen Gopalganj's own economy.

The Bank has also worked to bring the lowest economic tier of the community into formal banking, notably through its Daily Deposit Scheme, which lets small savers build a deposit at a pace that fits their daily income. Today, alongside this founding mission, the Bank has modernised its operations with core banking, digital payments and direct benefit transfer, while remaining what it has always been — a bank of, and for, the people of Gopalganj.
